Loving this series! Cannot wait for the future volumes to come. What is really making my heart flutter about these books (besides Chise and Elise!) is the time that Kore (artist/author) took to research the some of the real information on some of the magical beings, items ect. For example, the character that takes care of the house, she is a Brownie and a little detail that got me was that Chise will leave a little bit of cream for her on a shelf as a "thank you" and that is something a person would do to appease the gentle and caring house fairies.Other then accurate details this series is a delight to read, though I would have to agree with another rating I read that the relationship between Chise and Elise is kind of progressing fast without much interaction or reason other then he is the only person (wizard, fairy,demon?) ever to want her at all. All in all like many on here agree, it's a good series to read and I recommend it too!
It's been a very long time since I have been so into a manga I literally count the days to the release of new chapters. This series is stunning, both for it's delightful artistry, but also for it's storytelling. The world is immersive, expansive, and feels limitless. The characters are captivating, compelling, and each chapter just leaves you wanting more. Hand's down one of the most thorough world's I've had the pleasure to get sucked into, the lore is just so wonderful and deeply integrated into the storytelling process it's a true gem and work of art. If you haven't given this series a try I urge you to do so, the anime is also wonderful and follows the manga to a T. Don't miss out on this on this one, you wont regret it!
This is an enjoyable series, dark at times yet still having warmth and some comedy. I saw the movie and watch the anime. It's nice to see they followed the books so closely. Fortunately I can read ahead of the anime so get to read what is coming.
The story and artwork are superb in this series! Giving three stars because the cover had a large crease in it, and that's what I was trying to avoid by buying this brand new. Not the worst thing in the world though, haha. Would definitely recommend this series to those who love fantasy (and subtle romance)!
The anime often seems to present the idea of how one navigates a world without any emotions besides rage and vindictiveness. The manga is kinder, going into the underpinnings of the reasons one might do so.
