This book is a very well-written Commemorative overview of the totally unforgettable 2006 Championship Season and subsequent win of the Super Bowl XLI by the Indianapolis Colts. It is nicely covered with many pictures that go a long way in showing the 2006 season. It will remain in my library, perhaps to be followed with another commemorative of the Super Bowl XLIV win, led by Peyton Manning. I hope it will be the ultimate sibling rivalry, with the opponent being the New York Giants, led by brother, Eli Manning. Sorry Eli, but I am siding with Peyton in this! This does not negate the fact that it is the entire team that wins the game and there is no 'I' in team! Good luck Indy!!

The pictures and content in this book were great - more of a picture book than anything. The editing was horrible though - there were numerous gramatical errors throughout the book. I would still recommend bying it if you want a good history of the Super Bowl season.

This book captures the essence of the Colts' fabulous unforgettable season. A wonderful item for any Colts fan.

Contrived and too many twists and turnd

Toni is on vacation with her husband, mother and stepfather. A cruise is a great way to relax, visit, and enjoy yourself. At least that's the idea. It's a bit hard to do when you notice that you have blood dripping by you on the lido deck. It's hard to read your book when a body almost falls on you. If that's not enough to shock and scare you, it's even worse when her head falls in the pool. The body has been decapitated by the roof on lido deck...Book Review Buzz gave me the opportunity to read this book for review (thank you). It has been published and is available now on Amazon.Toni is no shrinking violet since she's a pathologist by trade. She examines the body, takes pictures, and then gets help. Things are different on cruise ships. The local police came and looked but the boat has to leave to continue the cruise. The first thing that happens is the woman's head disappears from the pool. They're not sure if they believe Toni or not. The Royal Barbados police just know she's American and they're all questionable.When the ship gets underway, she and her stepfather decide to do some investigating themselves. After all, he's retired from Scotland Yard. She looks over dead bodies for a living. They don't like mysteries and this one is a good one.There are two more deaths, bodies appear and disappear in the cooler, and everyone is a suspect. There's a long tradition within the crews of such ships that not only do the parents work there, their sons do, too. With connections to a murder 25 years ago, it seems the answer to the mystery is in the bowels of the ship. But the murderer really doesn't want to be found.There's action all the way through the story, the pace is fast, and the story flows smoothly. This is well-written and done nicely. Toni almost doesn't make it, but she does. That's good because I'm looking forward to reading more about her and her family crime solving unit.

What begins as a lovely getaway soon takes a grisly turn. On their first night at sea, Toni's awakened by what she believes was a scream. When nothing untoward happens, she decides to go up on the Lido deck with a book and wait to watch the sunrise. Instead of seeing a rising sun, she sees a falling body plummeting toward her from the automated sunroof!! With the body on deck and a head bouncing into the pool, Toni does what she does best...begin the search for clues for identity and cause of death.Being aboard a ship owned and operated out of Britain, it helps immensely that Nigel is a former Scotland Yard detective. Using Nigel's experience and connections as the means to getting the captain's and crew's cooperation, Toni is soon immersed in investigating not one, but multiple bodies and many possible suspects with plenty of reasons for committing murder. As she gets closer to the answers however, she's getting into more dangerous territory and soon the ONLY people she can truly trust are Hal, Nigel and Fiona!!The action begins with the first page and doesn't slow down until the last page! For a reader who feels they're good at figuring out "whodunit" long before the story ends, I challenge you to figure out the culprit(s)? responsible in this page-turning read!!

The Body on The Lido Deck is a dazzling mystery that lures readers to its depth. For fans of CSI this is definitely up your alley. There's a lot of dead body language that some might not like but goes with the territory when dealing with dead bodies. The main character, Toni Day, is very blunt. Straight forward kind of person. Her habit it to say or question things...and it may come of as rude. However, in her line of work, she has to be that way. In this particular novel, Toni was traveling on vacation with her husband and parents. As usual she finds a murder case. Except this one almost lands directly into her lap. There are plenty of suspects and as they case builds it's still hard to guess who done it. I loved the suspense and intrigue created perfectly by this writer. I have never before today, read a book by Jane Bennett Munro. After reading this tale, I have to say that I am super happy I did read it. It will keep readers questing and entertained. So many possibilities and few leads. Evidence goes missing and the main character gets into more dangerous situations as the book unfolds. Overall, I loved it. Highly recommend The Body on The Lido Deck to readers everywhere.

I love this mystery! It was a lot of fun to read, and I especially enjoyed the setting on a cruise ship.Throughout the book, there was tons of background about how a cruise ship works, and there were plenty of details about all the amenities you can get on a cruise, as much food and drink as you want, and entertaining shows, not to mention the numerous stops to exotic locations. It made me want to go on a cruise for sure. Besides the murders in the book, of course. When a performer is graphically killed in the closure of the roof over the lido deck...causing her head to land in the pool and the body practically next to Dr. Toni Day....the doctor can't help but start investigating what happened to the girl. It was a total mystery that kept me guessing until the last pages of the book....there were several people who could have done the killing, and it makes for a suspenseful book that keeps the reader going until the end. I enjoyed trying to figure it out. Looking forward to more by this author.

My best friend and I have been obsessed with the miniseries for years. One of the older female-demographic tv networks used to play it every year during superbowl (they called it "the superbowl of miniseries"). The over-the-top camp factor is hard to beat. So I finally recently decided to read the books and holy cow do they beat the miniseries out of the park! I could not put them down. Lace 2 is NOTHING like the film. So if you're expecting the same storyline, you will not get it. But should you be disappointed? NO. Because it's better. The thing about these books is that they're marketed as romance when really, they're not about romance. They're about a group of women, their friendship and their empowerment. As well as Lilli and her struggle. Romance is in there, but it's not the main focus. In fact, nearly every man in these books is terrible. Not only just godawful people, but bad in bed. These poor women! I mean, there's a good amount of sex, but most of it seems to be traumatic. Is this common in romance novels? Maybe I'm aghast because up until now I've never read one. Anyway, Jezebel described Lace as "bonkers" and I'd have to agree. But only in the best way possible. It's glam, it's camp, it's totally dramatic and over the top.

I chanced on Lace when I picked it up at a library book sale. I was way too young to be reading it but even then I understood that what I was reading was good (if a bit racy). I've since reread the book at different periods in my life and it's always an interesting read. I love the characters, the storytelling is tight, and despite its length I find it to be thoroughly engrossing.

It is huge, over 150 feet high, and will seat fifty thousand people. There are eighty entrances that quickly funnel spectators to their correct seats. There are snack bars, many water fountains, and even indoor bathrooms.   A massive canopy stretches over the open-air arena and provides shade for the crowd. It is operated by a team of one thousand sailors who can haul the canvas cloth canopy—a huge fabric roof—into position and adjust it as needed.   Today’s show begins with battles between men and wild animals. The animals—lions, tigers, bears, and elephants—have been brought from every corner of the Roman Empire. In the next hundred days, more than nine thousand animals will be slaughtered.    Later, at lunchtime, prisoners will be brought from jail to be torn apart by some of the animals or killed by soldiers. Although it is hard for us to understand, the crowds find this entertaining. The people of ancient Rome devoured this sort of spectacle—the bloodier the better.   The high point of the day comes in the afternoon—pairs of fighters called gladiators will fight each other with deadly weapons. People in the crowd root for whichever gladiator they want to win. They scream and cheer. Again, it is hard for us today to think of people killing each other as entertainment. But to the Romans, it was.   The grand opening of this huge arena marks a climax in the history of ancient Rome. The amphitheater is the largest ever built. Soon it will come to be called the Colosseum. Today, two thousand years later, it is a ruin. Yet it is still one of the most famous sites in all of Rome, in all of Italy. More than five million people visit every year to see a reminder of the bloody power of one of the world’s greatest empires.     Chapter 1: How Rome Began     By the time the Colosseum opened, the city of Rome was almost eight hundred years old.   According to legend, Rome was founded in 753 BC by Romulus. Romulus and his twin brother, Remus, were the children of a human woman and Mars, the Roman god of war. Their mother, Rhea, left her twins to die in the Tiber River. But the twins floated down the river and were saved by a she-wolf. The wolf took care of the babies in a nearby area with seven hills.   According to one legend, when they grew up, the twins wanted to build a city on one of the seven hills. But they could not agree on which hill. Neither twin would give in and there was a terrible fight. Romulus killed Remus.   Romulus built his city exactly where he wanted and named it Rome, after himself. The people who lived there came to be called Romans.   Over the next three hundred years, Rome grew so large that it covered all seven hills. It grew up along the banks of the shallow Tiber River.   Around 400 BC, Rome founded Ostia, a harbor city on the coast. From there Roman ships could sail to all the trading centers on the Mediterranean Sea. The Romans grew rich.    By 218 BC, Rome had conquered all of what is now the country of Italy. By AD 117, the Roman Empire stretched from Britain in the north through most of Europe and included all the land around the Mediterranean Sea. Countries that are today known as Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia were all part of the Roman Empire. The Romans brought their way of life to these conquered lands.   After every conquest, the victorious Roman general would return home and parade through the city, showing off the riches he’d taken as well as the many prisoners of war. The riches from conquered lands paid for massive building projects like the Colosseum.

I have tried to learn other languages using the Rosetta Stone format and the Pimsleur Method. Although there are positive qualities to each of these formats, I preferred the audio.Pimsleur method because I was able to speak the language with good recall very quickly. With this in mind I tried the Michel Thomas method and was thrilled at my retention of the Japanese language. I believe that when you listen to a foreign language with no worries of reading or writing, you retain it better.When you learn a new language, you want to be able to use it immediately.The phrases you learn are part of everyday speech. If you consider how you learned your native language as a young child, it was just with listening. Proper reading and writing followed with entry into a preschool and kindergarten program. I did well in learning the Italian Rosetta Stone format with pronunciation, reading and writing..but it became an awkward challenge responding to spontaneous conversation. With the Italian Pimsleur Method of just audio phrasing, I visited Italy and people were amazed at my ease of speech. The Michel Thomas Method you are one of three students listening in a classroom.It's a clever way of teaching you a language in an audio format. The main teacher is British, but her accent doesn't impair her teaching techniques. She also has a Japanese linguist with her to reemphasize the proper pronunciation. I'm a beginner, but I really am learning in this format. I've gotten so inspired I'm learning the Japanese Hiragana syllabary at the same time using a library workbook. I've been studying the cds for 2 weeks now and have already reached the 5th cd. I'm looking forward to completing the 1st grouping of Total Japanese and move on to the others in the series. I'm very happy with the program.

Having a Japanese daughter-in-law I have been trying to learn basic Japanese for many years without success.I came across the beginner CD in our local book store and immediately commenced the course - what a surprise that was. In just a few days I was amazed at just how easy it was and I actually finished the entire CD in just a week - AND I actually retained the dialogue. I immediately got onto Amazon and ordered the entire course . I am now commencing the third CD and actually loving the entire experience - and still remembering all the lessons - it has been so easy. My son, daughter-in-law and her parents have just returned to Japan after spending a fortnight with us on holidays and they were amazed at my vocabulary skills I could actually converse with them ( of course very basically) but at least I had the confidence to attempt to talk to them. I recommend this course to everyone - if I can learn a language at my age then anyone can do it. !!!!!!!!

I like the way this study has two students repeat the word(s) being taught. It also builds sentences from the words which is very helpful. The teacher also corrects the students if they pronounce a word incorrectly.

The course is very systematic, the grammar is easy to understand, there is no confusion as the vocabulary is kept to a minimum.

I lived in Japan for several years so have an ear for the language even though I don't speak it much. The Michel Thomas Method (MTM) is probably the best way to learn Japanese, or any language, bar none and this new 2012 version improves on the 2009 version. I have previously tried Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur. My only complaint with MTM is that the lady giving the lesson has a slight British accent when she speaks Japanese and I feel more native speakers are needed to demonstrate proper pronunciation even the teacher is very close. This can be easily be done in the recording studio and with editing in the native speaker. And as a guy, I'd like to hear a Japanese guy speak so I hear very accurately how to speak like a native.

This is the best method for learning the grammar of a language. It won't make you fluent, but it's the best place to start.

I've listened to about 2 CDs so far and I want to claw my eyes out. The pronunciation by everyone is just terrible. The one female "student" is terrible. She doesn't seem to be retaining *anything* the teacher is saying, and her pronunciation is horrible. The male "student" is far better and it seems he's able to retain this information. Having taken Japanese previously before, used books like Japanese For Busy People, Genki and even Rosetta Stone, I'm not honestly seeing how this is helping me. Seeing as I already have an understanding for Japanese, listening to these CDs, it doesn't feel special at all.I got it to listen to while at work, but I find myself more frustrated than actually learning. The pronunciation really gets to me and that's *not* how you pronounce words in Japanese. The teacher isn't bad per se, but her pronunciation is off quite a bit because of her accent. They barely mention any grammar at all, they don't mention that "o" is actually wo, nor do they explain that wo always goes with objects, wa goes with subjects and the "style" of learning seems to be "This is how it is, deal with it". They don't really explain anything, similar to how Rosetta Stone does it, and that never worked for me. I like explanations and the ability to understand. Seeing as how this costs $80 for 8 CDs of an hour each, it doesn't quite feel like I'm getting my moneys worth. :(It may be better for me if they didn't have terrible "students". I get what they're trying to do with having people who don't know it, but have them do it the correct way, I don't need to hear how it doesn't sound. I think I'm going to send this back to Amazon as it really doesn't feel like it's $80.

They close by proposing a new paradigm for partnership between medicine and religious/spiritual beliefs.Throughout the text they gradually build a logical and linear case that a "spirituality of immanence" permeates modern medicine to the exclusion of alternative belief systems. They argue that an inevitable rise in unchecked and impersonal economic, bureaucratic, and technocratic forces has stripped medicine of its central patient-centered mission. By reintegrating a plurality of spiritual and religious voices, they hope that such forces can be kept in check and we can return hospitality to the hospital.The text is versatile and will be equally appreciated by an introductory reader and an experienced audience. At times it can become technical (both in their theological and sociological analyses), but such passages are rare and do not detract from the central message. Although already very thorough, I found myself wishing that the authors had added a chapter further considering the potential for increased disparities in minority religious groups should their pluralistic model be enacted. Overall, however, an excellent read for anyone interested in the topic and I would highly recommend.
