About the Author
Msgr. George Agius, D.D. and J.C.D., was born in 1873 on the island of Gozo, near Malta. He was ordained a priest in 1895 by Bishop Camilleri, and entered the Gregorian University of Rome two years later. Soon he had earned two doctorates, one of which was in theology and the other, Canon Law. He subsequently served as Secretary and Chancellor at the Diocese of Lincoln for a decade, and published his Tradition and the Church in 1928 through The Stratford Company, Boston. Father Agius died on the sixth of March, 1962, having been a priest for sixty-seven years.

This book fully met my expectations
Not really what I was looking to find. This explains about Tradition but not what we believe because of Tradition.
This Catholic book debunks the Protestant views of "sola scriptura" "sufficiency of scripture" and supremacy of private interpretation. Any Protestant who reads this book will have heartburn, for sure. Catholics who have even read the Catechism of the Catholic Church need to read this exhaustive (310 page) book on why Catholicism is the Church of Jesus Christ. I may as well say that here, because that is what the book says. And, more than that, the book proves it -- from scripture.Anyone who wants to be a Protestant needs to climb over the insurmountable arguments in this book, to be intellectually honest. Protestantism is actually a rejection of scripture, because you have to reject so much scripture to be a Protestant. You have to reject "the whole gospel" to pick and choose the verses that make you feel good. With all due respect, the book shows AND SAYS that Protestantism is contradictory, inconsistent, unbiblical, and unhistorical. No one should be mislead now about what is in this book. I've said it.
Without any doubt, this is the book to get if you want a deep understanding of Holy Tradition. At just the end of page one most Catholic will have learned more about Holy Tradition then they received in all of the rest of their Catholic education. This is a must have book.
I have just ordered and received "Tradition and the Church" by Msgr. George Agius. I saw and read it in our seminary library, and I told myself I really must have this book. It is indeed excellent that we are now giving Scriptures the importance and attention it deserves, but so should Tradition. And this book is a beautiful treatise that serves as an introduction to Tradition as God's Faithfulness in handing his Revelation to us. I hope many more Catholics would read this timely book.
