With the NDP and the inaugural YOG happening in the month of August, it is ought to be an exciting month for Singapore.
and of course, not forgetting the recent heavy downpour that floods our famous Orchard road and other low lying area around Singapore...
What do i see?
I see.. Ugliness..
Ugliness not because our island is badly hit by floods and also not because of the recently NDP and current YOG. I see Ugliness in people... and sad to say, even my friends who made comment in FB.
I read a recent post from FB and it indicate "YOG volunteers served dog food" Well, from 1 glance, the food defintely looked bad in terms of appearances and colour but, at least there is still food to keep you away from hunger and give you the energy to work and growth.
What do the families and children who are experiencing famine have for dinner?
Give it a good thought. Food maybe bad but at least, be thankful that there is still food.
Next, I am going to say about people who made comments about our foreign workers, mainly the people from PRC and India/Bangladesh.
Yes, I agree with you that they have unglam behaviors or smells at times.. but again. Give it another good thought, if they were not here, do you think Singapore can be what it is today?
Have you spare a thought for them that they are smelling our rubbish while clearing the rubbish, or doing renovation works in our neighbourhood which is to benefit and better our living qualities in our housing estate.
Come to think about it, Do you think Singaporean will do that? Clearing rubbish, clearing plates at coffee shops etc.
So I hope that you should be thankful and also give them the respect they deserve.
I have enough of ranting. But I am just quite disappointed with some of my friends who made such comments through FB. I thought my friends will be matured enough but was quite disappointed when they said it out in FB.
worst, some of them have rich religious background. Shouldn't people (regardless of country, color and status) care for 1 another as if how God care for his people. Did God ever say that because you are rubbish cleaner, I should forget about you...
No right?
I am not targeting at any religious bodies but I just hope my friends can get the message across. In fact, we should happy that these people help to keep our daily lives much better.
It is definitely true that majority of our population are pampered due to the mentality of "goverment-owe-us thinking" but it is definitely more important to get prepared for the worst when the red button is pressed.
Therefore, please be thankful of everything you have, directly and indirectly... always
居安思危, 饮水思源。
